Northern Light Business News Adds 800 Global News Sources Formerly Available in NTIS’s Discontinued “World News Connection”

BOSTON, Mar. 11, 2014 – Northern Light (www.northernlight.com) today announced it has added to Northern Light Business News™ the 800 global news sources formerly available in the National Technical Information Service’s (NTIS) recently discontinued World News Connection service. This brings to 5,800 the total number of content sources aggregated within Northern Light Business News, an enterprise-class service that offers comprehensive search of online business news, newswires, and industry authority blogs, augmented by text analytics optimized for strategic business analysis.

World News Connection (WNC) was compiled and distributed by the U.S. Department of Commerce’s NTIS until Dec. 31, 2013.

The 800 additional global news sources now available in Northern Light Business News include local newspapers from 145 countries and in over 40 languages.  The collection provides coverage of local events affecting not only global business and technology, but will also be of interest to companies operating internationally with country-specific marketing programs and geographically dispersed manufacturing and technology development facilities.

“This marks the second time in five months that Northern Light is rescuing customers abandoned by other news search services,” said C. David Seuss, Northern Light’s CEO. “In October, we announced our Business News Customer Rescue Program to offer corporate customers of Factiva a high-quality alternative source of business news search at an aggressive price.  That program was designed to fill the void created by Dow Jones’s decision to bundle Factiva into a much higher-priced “DJX” offering for its existing customers. In the case of WNC, NTIS actually suspended the service, so customers cannot access it at any price. For former WNC subscribers, Northern Light Business News isn’t just a better value, it’s a lifeline.”

Northern Light Business News is available at a flat annual rate of $96,000 for unlimited enterprise use.
