Northern Light Adds Concept-Based Search Summaries to its Market and Competitive Intelligence Portals
BOSTON, MA, Sept. 22, 2015 – Northern Light® today announced it has enhanced its market and competitive intelligence portals with concept-based search summaries that change dynamically when a researcher applies different text analytics facets to a search result. The inclusion of concept-based search summaries in a search result provides the researcher with more depth and context on the topic of inquiry, and enables him or her to see at-a-glance information they may be interested in but that they did not specify exactly in their query.
Concept-based search summaries are a new capability in Northern Light’s text analytics solution, MI Analyst™, and currently are available on Northern Light’s Millie™, the first market and competitive intelligence portal available free on the web. They also are being added to Northern Light’s SinglePoint™ strategic research portals, which large enterprises deploy to provide employees single-search access to and analysis of internal primary and licensed secondary market research content, relevant social media postings, and business news.
“Concept-based search summaries are another way that Northern Light’s text analytics is adding value to our market and competitive intelligence customers,” C. David Seuss, Northern Light’s CEO, said. “We have the unique ability to analyze market research and news content for business strategy concepts to give market intelligence professionals a leg up on their assignments.”
For example, a recent search in Millie on the terms IBM and “cloud computing” found 3,300 news articles in Northern Light Business News™; then a click on the MI Analyst facet “strategic partnerships” instantly drilled down to 500 of those articles and altered the article summaries visible in the search results to highlight aspects of the articles pertaining to IBM’s partnerships related to cloud computing.
